In December 2005, the Bishop of Manchester, Nigel McCulloch, was commissioned to begin a three year pilgrimage visiting the 346 parishes of Manchester Diocese.
At a commissioning service in the Cathedral the Bishop was presented with the baton that was made for the Commonwealth Games. With the baton he began the task of passing on the gospel message of faith, hope and love.

Formerly the Rector of St Ann's in the centre of Manchester, Roger will work alongside the parishes of the diocese to help them prepare for their Bishop's Pilgrimage to maximize its potential in terms of engagement.

Making sure the pilgrimage goes well is a massive job. Administering the parish pilgrimages; from compiling visit dates, tracking which parishes have been visited, confirming dates with all those involved in the Bishop's visits, organizing support teams, sending out planning packs, confirming arrangements for the actual visits and preparing resources used.

Revd Canon Anne Hollinghurst
Anne is chaplain to Bishop Nigel and a residentiary canon of Manchester Cathedral. She came to Manchester in 2005 from Derby where she was chaplain to the city's cathedral and university.
