As part of the Bishop of Manchester's pilgrimage across the diocese he visited All Saints, Stand on July 6 2006. During his parish visit he talked with children and leaders at the after school club. He also spent some time with the school council. Following that he went along with Revd Alison Hardy to take holy communion to a housebound couple and enjoyed getting to know them. An informal meeting with members of the PCC followed and prayers were said about binding the church and community together.
The Community Reception took place in All Saints Church Hall. Revd Alison Hardy said: "Drinks and nibbles were originally planned but the catering team went all out and produced a fantastic spread!" Those present included a police inspector and some community police officers, shopkeepers, school staff and people from the local community. The voluntary organisations were extremely well represented and very appreciative of the time and affirmation the Bishop gave them.
In the evening there was a special service in church which was very simple. The longest standing member of the church, Dorothy Hartley, told her story. She spoke briefly about what the church had meant to her throughout her entire life and of the stability it gave her and her great fondness for the bells. She explained how very special it was to her.
The most recent members of the church, the Chambers family, also spoke about what the church meant to them. There were three generations present at the service and the grandmother spoke on behalf of them all. She explained how it felt to be new, to be made
