St Michael & All Angels and Holy Trinity
Ashton-under-Lyne

On December 6 and 7 2006 Bishop Nigel visited the four churches which form the Ashton Team. These were St James, St Michael and All Angels, Holy Trinity and St Gabriel's all in Ashton-under-Lyne.

Ashton Team Vicar Rev Roger Farnworth explained: "On December  7, Bishop Nigel met with one of the Imams from Catherine Street Mosque with a delegation of young people from the Mosque then we had a reception at Holy Trinity for those who work in the west end of Ashton particularly across the faith communities. Then we went on to St Michael's for the pilgrimage service.

"We followed the suggested outline for the two evenings prayers on the two days and for the main pilgrimage service but the Christingle was a different service which we arranged through consultation. The pilgrimage service at St Michael's used a form of litany which gave space to the issues and joys of each church over the years and to the community of Ashton as well."

On reflection Rev Farnworth added: "The congregations were really pleased and enjoyed it very much. It was a very enjoyable occasion."
