The Bishop of Manchester visited St Clement`s Urmston on Sunday September 13 2009 as part of his Run the Race pilgrimage.
His pilgrimage service marked the beginning of a two-week focus on ministry and mission at St Clement's.
On this occasion the church, under incumbent Chris Brown, marked the pilgrimage with a service and lunch at the church, but did not organise community visits.
During the morning service Christine Bailey, treasurer and long-term member of the church, told the church`s story and reflected on what the church is doing now.
The congregation thoroughly enjoyed the service and felt encouraged in what they do.
Afterwards members chatted to the bishop and enjoyed fellowship with one another over lunch.
Other events that took place during the two-week festival included a Mothers' Union service, a youth service with participation by the young people and a Songs of Praise on September 27 led by the Bishop of Bolton, Chris Edmondson.
