The Middle Valley Team Ministry met at St. Anne's Vicarage in Edgeside to welcome Bishop Nigel on the next stage of his pilgrimage. Those present for prayers left with great memories of blessing. In particular, and remembered with fondness, is the memory of Linda Kenyon who spoke with deep affection for the moments she shared there. May this record be a memorial to her time in Edgeside. The visits to the community started at the local Primary School where the bishop joined the choir in practicing My Jesus, My Saviour; a school favourite. And from there the Pilgrimage moved to the Buck Inn in Cowpe for a swift half with the landlord. The Buck Inn has become a regular monthly meeting place for a Bible discussion group called Pint and a Parable, where Revd. Rod Bevan is tested on his biblical knowledge when a particularly thorny issue is brought up for discussion! After the pub visit, Bishop Nigel met the firm B&E Boys Ltd., a local building firm who joined the church in a successful bid for a Lottery grant. The grant totalled £284,000 and was used to refit the church into an open community space as well as a centre of worship. The final service was conducted at St. Anne's and was remembered as a service of great 'encouragement' where local community members gathered with the church.
Of particular note were the numbers of those present who had no previous church engagement but who felt enabled to come forward and receive a blessing; truly celebrating Edgeside's faith, hope and love in the future.
