Highlights from 2007

In a 'Run the Race' first, the bishop (in his purple cassock) donned  bowling shoes for a quick game of ten-pin bowling at Hollywood Bowl, during his visit to St Peter's Ashton on November 21st, 2007. The bishop also met management and staff of the multi-million pound Ashton Moss regeneration scheme.

The bishop was also taken on a tour of the parish; statistically one of the top-ten most deprived wards in the country, to see for himself the issues that remain, even after ten years of regeneration, especially among the housing stock in the parish.

Highlights from 2006

The Bishop of Manchester visited Saint John's Pendlebury on Tuesday 21, November, 2006. Though his visit was part of his Run the Race pilgrimage, it was also to perform the happy task of licensing priest-in-charge, Revd. Sue Timmins as Vicar.

The visit began with the bishop meeting PCC members and praying together in church. From 5.45pm, the church hall was filled with church and community groups, each of which had been invited to set up a display about the purpose and activities of their group. There was a great amount of networking and cross-fertilisation between the groups as people have found out more about one another and the unique contribution that these different groups make.
